Hi all,

My name is Phuttiphong from Thailand. I am a new shooting 8mm. So, Could you please give me some advice about DIY home telecine?

1. What is the best projector model for home telecine? I have read some posts that I need variable speed. But can you suggest me some model?

2. What kind of telecine box I should buy? I found one in Ebay. Has anyone used it before? The SM3itm telecine system from eBay

or I should spend for Moviestuff's products?

I live in the pal country and my video camera is 25p. I was wondering about the result of capturing 24fps projector into 25p camera.

Thank you for every suggestion,
Phutti

Forget all about "transfer boxes" and their variants such as you found on EBAY; they rarely give good results. In the first instance, take the advice Roger gave you on another Forum. You can improve from there once you have some experience. There are many posts with advice on the various forums; also try "Amateur telecine" as a search on Google

Hello Phuttiphong, and welcome to the forum.

As Martin said, forget about the transfer boxes. For all informations, including building your own transfer system, check out the On Super 8 Page.

Jean-Marc is right pointing you to a specific page to start you off; the article accessible from that page is the one that most of us have started from... and it's ideal for understanding the basic principles on which the excellent Roger Evans Workprinter and most frame by frame amateur set-ups are based.
Two points to bear in mind...
1. Almost any movie projector can be modified along these lines to produce a frame by frame machine, some with very little work.
2. The capture program CINECAP is proprietory and is now only available to owners of genuine WORKPRINTERS manufactured by Moviestuff. Updates are available to existing licensed users. There are many other programs available for PC use.
CAPTUREMATE (for MAC)is available to any purchase, and there are probably others; I'm not a MAC user so have not looked.
Having said that, the options are many; enjoy the research and experimentation. It can be very satisfying!!

Thanks Jean-Marc.
Thanks again Martin.

I will do more research or perhaps Moviestuff might be my best choice.
Regards,
Phuttiphong
