Hi,

This question may have been asked before, but, does anyone know if the opening credit scene to the series "UFO" exists on super 8? I have a couple of 400 foot digests, and it is not included on those. But, I thought maybe on some of the 3 x 400 foot versions it may have been included.

Thanks for your response.

James.

James, I'm not a UFO series fan, but take a look here. This is one of the 3*400 Italian editions: maybe the credits are included (I do ignore if, in case, they are in English or in Italian). Why don't you try to contact the seller? Techno Film are normally good Italian prints.
Good luck.

GIAN

I watched my 400 foot UFO digest (Timelash) and two 3 reelers in German (Unbekannte Gefahren & Alarmstufe 1).
Timelash has a short opening credit with the names of the 3 main characters.
Both 3 x 400 foot versions have a longer opening credit (reminds me of Thunderbirds), but without the names of the characters.

Gian ...

Are you saying that Techno films is, in fact, still in business?

I didn't know.

Hi Osi, not at all. I was thinking about all Tecnho Film prints. By saying 'TRY TO CONTACT THE SELLER' I meant the Italian Ebayer selling the copy I was referring to.

Osi, at the risk of briefy going off topic; there was a fascinating article many years back in "Film for the Collector" about how Derek went over to Italy to salvage as many negatives and soundtracks as possible from Techno for use by Derann...I'll look up which issue it was. [Smile]

I might be able to answer the details regarding UFO.

All of the Technofilm 110m digests Exposed (100), Identifid (101), Cat With Ten Lives (202), Psychobombs (203), Timelash (204), Survival (205) in English do not support the original credit openings. 202, 203 & 204 supported the Italian "film" version opening sequence (Allarme Rosso...) with the mistaken John Barry James Bond music.

The full 3 reel episodes from Techno Film (Identified and Exposed) feature the full opening sequence, however Identified has a minor cut removing the sexy undressing scene with Gabrelle Drake (NO!!!).

The full 3 reel UFA German releases have the opening sequences, except for Psychobomben that does not have the opening sequence due to the original episode not having one (?)

I hope this all helps.

Thanks, everyone for your help.

Adam, those specific details help alot! I'll have to look for the German prints. I'd love to have that full credit opening on super 8.

James.

No worries there. I am a huge UFO/ITC and Super 8 fan, so I am glad Technofilm/UFA were granted distribution rights for these great TV shows from ITC.
I have built up a large Technofilm ITC collection and UFO is my biggest entry (as it was a huge hit in Technofilm's home market Italy). I only own 2 German full eps (Psychobombs and Cat With Ten Lives) as they seem to be the most expensive via ebay and such, but I am always trying to track down more. Try and find the German prints as they were on better quality stock and come in fantastic slipcase boxes.
