Hi all,

As I have been in Toronto for 2 months, I didn't see a lot of opportunities to grow up my collection here.

There is one flea market in Toronto (if we mean a really flea market with junks and antiques are sold), i.e Lawrence Market, which open only every Sunday. At least that what I knew to date. Probably other Canadian members can be give more input here.

I have visited this market several times, but it seems the sellers are hoping too much expectation in selling their items, so prices are mostly high. For example LPs are sold start from $5 which we can usually buy for $1 in any record shops. Old toys are ranging from $50 up. Which on Ebay can easily be snipped for $5.

I don't know if they are doing this Sunday Market for fun or to do for living?

I feel much comfortable visiting Flea markets in Europe (at least in Amsterdam, Den Haag and Paris which I have visited). In these flea markets, they priced many items just to let them go, not to make money. And with these very low prices, we (buyers) usually end up with buying anything just for the sake a good deal (typical impulsive buyers).

But anyway, every time I visited Lawrence Sunday Market I always tried to get 8mm films and 8mm related items, but the result was almost zero. There were 2 photography equipments booths, but the sellers showed a little interest with 8mm. When I asked if they had any super 8mm sound projectors. They answered that they had silent ones because sound projectors was quite rare (???). And with a very confidence attitude they explained that sound films were also impossible to get (!!!!??)

OK, but this afternoon, I visited again the same market and after spending 2 hours running around the place, I almost left it with empty hands. But suddenly, I saw a very noticeable box, i.e Mountain Films generic boxes (blue box).

I found the title was "Underwater" in 2 reels x 400 feet. When I asked the price, the seller said $6 and I asked $5 for the 2 reels which he then gave them to me.

So I paid it and quickly checked the films. It shows that the colors are good, still plenty colors seen and it is on Fuji Film stock. The lab is also written on the leader adn it was struck by Bucks Lab UK.

OK, physically the films are good, but since I don;t have (yet) a projector, I cannot check the story.

I don't know what kind of film is this. Do you know the story flow of this title, and if any good to keep this film.

Anyway it is $6 item...! [Wink]

I am just crossing my fingers for more snips later on during my assignment here.

regards
