Hello Everyone,
First off I'd like to say that I am happy to have found this forum.
I recently took my old Eumig P8m Imperial projector to show some pictures that I took in the early sixties to my grandsons. When I opened the housing for oiling I realized that a part for the connection between the sound synchronising unit and the main mechanism is missing. I do not remember if it has been removed on purpose by myself, or maybe never has been fitted originally. I suppose it consists of a bridge connected by 2 tiny M2 screws, carrying a shaft with a pinion on one end and a connection piece on the other end. I would be happy if one of the members could post a picture of the missing part. I herewith include 2 pictures of the present situation. Thanks on beforehand, Hans

I invite once more anyone having an Eumig P8 Imperial projector to open its side cover and check if in my case a part is missing indeed...

Hi Hans it seems that some one has indeed removed some special parts in your P8 Eumig. Namely the drive shaft to the Sonariser Devise. See the pics below to get the full story. It shouldn't be too hard to locate one of these on a wrecked machine. Good luck dogtor pufferfish

Thanks Frank!
I am sorry to say that the picture that you added is not at all familiar to me and does not ring a bell. Are you sure that we are talking about the same projector? The one I have is shown on the two pictures on this site http://www.marriottworld.com/pieces/pieces25_b.htm

That is it Frank. Perfect!
Do you think it is possible that I make the part myself, given a good dimensional drawing and picture of same? Can you check the number of pinion leaves? I am rather handy in machine work, clockgear etc.

Hi Hans I am sure that a determined projectionist with your talents could make or get the parts needed. There is more than 1 part involved. It is a small assembly of parts. A plastic end driven plate with pin locators on one end of a short drive shaft & the other end has a sprocket with spur teeth that mesh with the sonarisor drive sprocket. There could also be a small spring involved & 2 fine thread metric screws.
I personally think it would be easier to get the parts off a wrecked P8. Are there local suppliers? If you want me to post the parts to you from Australia, then I think I can supply them from within the labrynth of catacoumbs that exist under Projector Heaven. All manner of weird projectors are known to be stored in the tunnels & P8 eumigs line the walls. email me direct at dogtor@projectorheaven.com.au to organise it. dogtor pufferfish

Hi Hans Is this what you need? I found it this morning, inside one of the many P8 Eumigs that inhabit the tunnels under Projector Heaven. The donor machine is recovering on the wrecking rack & will be ready for more organ donoring shortly. I will email you soon. dogtor pufferfish
