Well, considering that there is no damage to anything other than those buttons, I would say that something hot and heavy was dropped on them, because they appear to be more broken than melted.

The seller says they work tho.

What's weird about it is the first, third and fourth buttons look broken and/or melted, but the second one is pristine. It's hard to imagine just one being missed right in the middle.

This calls for a Crime Scene Investigator!

James Savage, are you out there? There may be foul play! (Attempted Projectorcide)

Considering the "angle" of the burns on the first and third button, I would that the owner was pushing the second button (REV) when something fell down / exploded / burned or whatever, protecting the REV-button and the "inner" parts of the buttons next to it.

So we should ask the seller if they still have all their fingers...

There seems to also be some damage to the panel underneath the buttons.

Of course the previous owner might have had a hairy fit and walloped it?

To me it looks like the previous owner has simply snapped most of the buttons, there seems to be no sign of scorch marks on the paintwork.
Regards
