Looking for a contact for anyone in the U.S. who repairs Eumig projectors and would possibly have parts to repair my smashed up S938. I'm having no luck with the people who work on my ELMOs... Any help would be really appreciated.

Hi Brian,
I think your best bet would be to find a non working clunker (maybe several) and pick and choose the best parts from each to cross-polinate into one healthy machine plus a small stash of spare parts.
The problem of course is the luck of finding another machine where bad parts of one aren't bad on the other as well. Since these are precision machines, they tend to wear in the same ways.
At about 30 years old one of my Elmos basically wore out, but I was lucky to find another machine that had a pretty violent meeting with a floor when it was almost brand new. Every time my original machine dies it gets another transplant from the crash victim. (So far: guides, entire sound system and motor)
The resulting machine is fantastic, but I'd be pretty lucky to pull this one off ever again.
Maybe in your case your projector is the crash victim and what you need to find is the worn out machine to provide a sound structure for your good parts...

Steve - Thanks for the advice... but that sounds like too much work to me. I spent $400 on the projector already so I'm looking for a faster fix. There must be someone who has Eumig parts and specializes in fixing them. I'll keep looking.

Bolex in Switzerland may have the parts - drop them an email.

Try Phil Johnson at www.8mm16mmfilmscollectibles.com. If the link doesn't work just Google him and you'll get to the site. He's located in Texas. He's been in the biz for many years and he's probably your best bet for parts. His web site is really cool and he's a very credible and nice fella all around. Very easy to reach and always willing to answer any questions by phone (as long as you're paying for the call, of course).

Try International Camera in Chicago. I know at one time they advertised for Eumig repair. Never used them, but let us know of your experience if you do.

Trevor in New Zealand was nice enough to offer me the part from his S940... I'm still waiting for it to arrive but I'm hoping it is going to solve all my problems... Buying this 938 was probably a mistake in the end... since I had to buy a 25 pound power converter to even plug it in!
