This seller has tried at least 3 times to sell this film at a very reasonable price. Why does nobody bite?

Well, I'm being snarky of course, but could exclusive silent footage really be worth that much? Some screen shots might help his/her chances.

I sent him the following quetion:
Do you think your starting bid price is just a little high?

I just bought two films, the Rolling Stones and the Who for $9.95. I'm still waiting for delivery but I think I got a better deal.

I think E-bay is the wrong forum to make a sale like that.

Most buyers of this kind of footage at that kind of price are going to be media professionals and they are not going to be willing to fork over that much money for something they can't see first.

Can you imagine yourself telling your boss you just committed 15G to what could be useless crap? It might mean the end of your job 10 minutes after UPS shows up!

E-bay is the land of dreams though: many are the "rare" films that show up with a zillion dollar starting price when there are 5 more exactly like them for $9.99 plus shipping!

Poor folks are probably thinking "I'm buying a Ferrari next week!"

Yes,

It's like the New York lottery Ads say: "All you need is a dollar and a dream".

-in this case it's not a dollar but a reel of film!

And this was his reply:

considering that this could end up being released as a DVD or pieces could be licensed through agencies like Getty for thousands of dollars for usage on TV etc (no exaggeration)....if you have a serious offer, I can drop the price. Remember, this is a one of a kind item. This is the actual film that went through the camera. No copies were ever made. You are buying the film makers rights as well.

The Kinks were known for their sound weren't they? [Big Grin] I guess you could insert dialogue and lyric cards during the performance. Of course if you have a tin ear or are tone deaf this could be disturbing. [Roll Eyes]

I like the line "This is the actual film that went through the camera. No copies were ever made." Where else could that film have gone in order to photograph those images? [Eek!]

I usually don't buy films that have kinks in them...boda boom! [Big Grin]
