I have two of of these....similar models.
I like the fact that the gate swings open but I don't like the closed in sprockets. (clear plastic)
If you have to remove a film mid showing....good luck!
I have heard that the sound head can scratch. I think if you give it a good cleaning you should be OK. I would take off the clear plastic around the sprokets and clean the film path there real good.
I have used mine as a spare sometimes and have not had any issues but I would run a test film thru to make sure it's not scratching. Takes 400' reels.

Bill-
Thanks for your reply. That's a big help. I guess I did all right then. Do you have the manual for it that you can scan and send me? I can't seem to find one online.

Pasquale it looks like its a manual auto load you hold down the loading lever on the top sprocket, (the bottom should engage as well) until the film has loaded fully then release it, the small lever on top middle looks like a speed lever for 18-24fps, it is a sound projector for super 8 only judging by the spindles they look to big for 8mm. hope this helps. it looks just like my unit nice unit but be carefull about taking off the clear plastic loaders around the sprockets there are small parts around it.

1 million apologies! You are right. The auction said 8mm and for 35.00 including shipping I jumped on it too fast. I didn't think to check the spindles. Oh well , when it gets here Monday I will clean it up and make sure it runs good then maybe post it here. Although, having another projector is cool. Thanks for your help.

Pat...yes it is super 8 only. I thought you knew that part! I guess I too read your first post to fast...you did say 8mm.
Jim is correct about being careful about taking the clear plastic pieces off for cleaning because of small parts, but I recommend you still do it. That part of the film path is almost impossible to get to and if no one has cleaned there it may be full of gunk!
Do you still need a manual? I'll have to look and see if I have it and if I do I can mail you a copy with the Superman film. I'm going to get that out this coming Monday.

I am sending you a Superman cartoon "Mechanical Monsters" for the deal on the Fireball XL5 film, remember? I have to see if I have the manual and I can copy it and mail it with the film...no problem.
