Spectra's are now sold nice machines thou they had to go. I have now obtained the best portable made Cinemecannica Portacine 35X.

Will be upgrading this to the new LED exciter light system with Stereo cell so watch this space.

Jean, i believe you have one of these machines, have you done the upgrade and if so did you do it yourself or get someone to do this.

Rob.

Robert, we use the Portacine exclusively outdoor, so I haven't done any red led/dolby conversion. It plays cyan tracks just fine, the background hum is barely noticeable.
For indoor, I much prefer the Kinoton FP series, they are quieter and kinder to film machines than Cinemeccanica's models. Mine (FP23) was converted to red led/dolby and digital.

Jean, i wanted something more quieter for home use then the Spectra's, compact and one that can be used with a long playing machine. I have a half tower which takes up very little space, just sits on top.

Also something that can be used for outdoor use using the 6000ft arms or the half tower. So i guess i have the best of both worlds.

Tell me more about your Kinoton FP set up which are very sort after and good machines i have been told. It would be interesting to find out the good points on this machine.

Curved film gate for improved focus and stability, teflon pads for smoother operation, very quiet running, open and simplified film path. I've been around all sorts of Cinemeccanica models (V4/portacine, all sorts of V5, V8, V9 and V12) but nothing beats the Kinoton FP20/30 series.

Sounds impressive, can they be adaptod as portable machines, and can they show a whole feature? How much do they normally go for on the second hand market?

I always thought Kinoton or should i say Philips where the best!
