Does anyone know if there's any danger/problem with using a 250 Watt bulb (EFR) in a Eumig 807D machine. I think it's only supposed to take a 75 watt bulb. It seems to be working fine (and the picture is brighter...) but I'm afraid it's going to blow up or something. I was just going to use it temporarily until I get the right replacement.

Hey Brian,
EFR is a 15V, 150W bulb. The Eumig 800s have 12V at the sockets.
The wattage changes with the ratio of the square of the voltages.
-so 150W times 12 squared over 15 squared is 96 watts.
Some of these machines used EFP, which is 12V, 100W. If your machine is set up to accept this as an option you aren't even exceeding the speed limit! If it is truly 75W only you are pushing it a little and might be wise to keep it to shorter reels and space 'em out a little.

Wow - that was a little over my head. I just wanted a yes or no if it's going to explode! Just to be safe I will stick to only a few minutes at a time and then give it a break.

I'm an engineer but I work for the Government, so the best you'll get from me is "maybe"
-but seriously folks: your machine may actually be capable of doing this, but not being sure whether it is or not you also may be slightly overloading the circuit that powers the bulb.
I don't think it's going to explode. Worst case: fizzle...darkness
On the other hand if you had an 810D, which always has the 100W lamp I'd say "go for it!"
