Was anyone else watching this auction?

http://www.ebay.com/itm/400258484494?ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1438.l2649

I checked earlier today. It was up to about $500 and had a day to go.

I contacted the seller a few days ago about shipping. It was marked "Pick up only". I asked if he would ship to the U.S. He said yes but could not give a price as nothing had been packed up yet.

A few hours later it was gone.

Did he realize he would make more selling these - especially "Star Wars" - separately?

Or, maybe someone offered him a good chunk of money and he sold them outside of eBay.

I was wondering if anyone here, like Christian Bjorgen did recently, got a great deal on eight full-length features and a Disney short.

Just curious.

Chris

Nice lot. Maybe the seller got an offer he couldn't refuse...

I suspect he got an offer that he wasn't inclined to refuse, but a buyer may still have got a bargain. It's such a bizarre situation to spend in the region of £1,000 (probably in the 1990s) on the three shrink-wrapped features alone, then have them lying around for so long with no projector, and then casually refer to them turning up after a move.

I suppose a buyer now selling a sealed, brand new, 'Star Wars' could get an enormous sum, although there are of course risks involved in buying new films. The buyer would be quite lucky if every reel of the three new features is completely free of any print or sound faults.
