I recently bought a Tom and Jerry which was advertised as a Derann print. However, on the tail (not spliced on) it states "Ken films" and the correct film title. However, the film stock is LPP with a date code (sqaure/circle/triangle)which would make it 1985. I'm pretty sure Ken and MGM films had finished on super 8 by then. Could anyone explain this? Might Derann(or another company)have acquired the negative perhaps?

AFAIK, Derann made an agreement with Ken/MGM regarding their negatives. That's why we can see "Gigi" a 400' digest printed by Derann. I opened a thread about this a while ago.

Fairly sure that Derann did acquire the negatives to some Ken Films. They got Red Fox stuff too. There's another thread just started, asking about what happened to Derann's negatives. If they still survive sure someone would make use of them. Bet they had a little gold mine of negatives at the end?
Would be sad and a total waste if they were binned. I did read the equipment was binned.
