Just wondering if a full feature in Super 8 exists of this film.
I know only of the Derann 5x400 edition, but it's not complete. Does anybody know?

Hi Flavio,
I do not know of a full length S8 version. I purchased the Derann version and found it very disappointing. The reduction of the running time removed several scenes which are important to the flow of the film. Their absence leaves the film greatly diminished. Not only that, but my particular print from Derann was very soft focus and the stripe quality was very poor!

Hi Paul,

yes, I also had the opportunity to view a Derann copy and I was really bad impressed by the poor quality of it...

That's why I was wondering if a better quality and "full" version does exist...

I have just finished watching a Ken Films 5 x 400ft version. As i've never seen the movie before, I couldn't tell you if there was any missing footage from this edition.

Of course noting that the original presentation is 113 minutes then 5 * 400 would not enough to cater that much. In fact most of Ken film will only have 16-17 minutes each reels meaning less than 100 minutes. Unless they are on Polyester stock.

BTW, Jonathan how do you see the Ken version color wise? faded, warmth or no fade at all?

Actually there exists a full length optical sound version. I bought a copy many years ago, from England if I remember correctly but I have never seen another listed anywhere.Unfortunately,at least this copy is reddish with scratches and inferior sound. But I am keeping it for its rarity. Of course I do also have the Derann copy!

Hi Winbert. The film is on polyester stock. It was sealed and brand new in one of those big plastic Ken Films cases. The wrapping inside was from a 1979 newspaper. It's also fading which is a pity.
