Hi, all.
I have zero experience with film projectors, but my husband recently acquired a truckload of films and projectors and all other manner of stuff from the film room of a mansion scheduled for demolition. In the haul was a beautifully kept Elmo st-1200d projector. The belts are melted to absolute mush, and the schematics on the service manual don't really make sense to me. I am hoping that someone can give me a rundown of which belt connects what to where. This is the whole inside:
 -

And this is the place where the belts have melted...one of which, I assume, was the drive belt and one for the take-up? I've labeled the slots - if someone could just give me a rundown like "attach 1A to 2A with x sized belt and 2 B to 3B with x sized belt." I did see the belt packages on ebay that someone recommended, but was confused by the four belt package and the one drive belt mentioned in the repair manual!
 -

And this is the top spot where the counter belt goes, right?
 -

Any help would be very much appreciated - there are hundreds of films to go through and I can't wait to start watching them!
Thanks so much!

You will need at least three belts. One drive belt connects 1,2 and 3. I think in your picture it is 1A, 2A and 3A. There is a small belt that connects 1 and 2, I think it is the B's on this one.

What you think is the "counter belt" is for a long take-up belt. It is connected to the pulley/gear located top left of 1 in the second pic and the pulley/gear you point to in the third pic.

All three belts come as a set on eBay. Easy to find.

Use acetone or laquer thinner to remove the goo. Buy a box of q tips and use them. Follow warnings on cans regarding ventilation and flames.
