Someone asked about Master and Commander fitting on two reels ... Is this an old movie or the one with Russell Crowe? If it's the latter, that is what made me wonder.

What's the last movies released on Super 8?

Master and Commander is the one with Russell Crowe and was released by Derann only a few years ago.

If you search this forum you are sure to find discussions of it. It created quite a stir at the time!

-apparently the release sold quite well too!

For late 1990s there were a lot of titles such as Speed, the Fugitive, most of Disney animation features (you name it), etc

For 2000: apart from Master and Commander, there are Spiderman, Ice Age, Chicken Run, Titanic, End of the Day (edited), Gladiator (edited), etc.

Where do you find such titles? I've gotten some good links from this forum and have started to order some from different companies. Waiting mainly for Dracula with Langella now.

Thanks again

Most likely place to find titles is either on here, Independent 8, Perry's, Classic Home Cinema, Buckingham Film & Video and (sadly!) eBay.

Master & Commander required a bit of conspiracy by some of the previous members of this forum to get it out. Plus the loan of a good 35mm print from an unnamed source! It was a difficult title to print but some re-grading of the negative went on in order to make it as good as possible - by that it was mainly so you could see what was going on in the darker sections as producing Super 8 from a print results in a lot of crushing in the blacks which seems to be particularly pronounced on the superior UK polyester prints. Doesn't seem to be such a problem on the yellowish German acetate prints. But apparently Germany will be doing polyester prints soon so all could be top-notch quality on Super 8 once more. Let us all hope so.
