If you are able to read the ad (my Ebay software has an enlarge function) ....it states "perfect lip synch" which means there had to be a synch pulse from the camera. Unless, of course, the ad is a complete misrepresentation, which I find hard to believe coming from Eumig.

Thomas,
The auction's title is misleading as THIS IS NOT a sound camera!
As Maurice stated, the camera needs a specific tape recorder (T5). The ad itself DOES NOT CLAIM this is a sound camera and thus NOT misleading, it reads as follows:
"You can be the Cecil B. DeMille of your block with the Eumig C5 and its POCKED-SIZED companion, the Eumig T5 TAPE RECORDER that captures the perfect lip sync of your stars and authentic location sounds for your films!"
Again, the auction's title is misleading not the ad itself!

The camera is double system sound capable which means it records sound in synch with tape for playback (almost all professional film cameras work this way) . I was amazed that this was incorporated in standard 8mm. ....from the filmshooting.com board I quote : " This system is as follows. You need the Eumig T5 tape recorder. This is a cool looking portable tape recorder that uses 1/4" tape in a special small magazine. Much superior to the Philips Cassette tape system that took over in 1963. T5 is connected to C5 (or C6 or S2 or S3 Eumig R8 cameras) via a two pin cable. To play back you need the Eumig Phonomatic P8 projector which plays the sound off T5 in sync with R8 reel of film shot on above cameras. T5 was made in 1962. Only 100 were made. Modern looking machine like their L5 speakers "
