Just bought 400' MGM release "Anchors Aweigh" # M-21. The "blulb" on the back cover mentions Kelly's dance with Jerry Mouse, there is also a still showing the two together.

But there is no sequence in the film.

Have I only got part 1? There is no indication that there is any other part.

Usually MGM put 1-2-3 after their prefix number: High Society M29-1 & M29-2. Seven Brides for Seven Brothers M30-1 & M30-2. Where Eagles Dare M25-1, M25-2, M25-3.

They did an alteration with Singin' In The Rain which was M15 & M16.

Have any members got the Jerry Mouse sequence in their copy of Anchors Aweigh?

"Anchors Aweigh" was only released as 1 400' digest by US (Ken/MGM)

Perhaps it was intended to be a 2-reeler?

I say this because it opens with many of the original MGM titles, but finishes rather quickly with just a bog-standard "The End".

Also, as I said above, it refers to the Jerry Mouse dance routine and even includes a still on the reverse side of the clamshell case.

Surprisingly, Gene Kelly is third named, below the top "Frank Sinatra" and the second star, "Kathrine Grayson".

The case makes no mention of Ken Films, it states: MGM Super 8, PO Box 296, Bogota, N.J. 07603.

Maurice,
I have the 400ft MGM/KEN digest of Anchors Aweigh. My print has the complete sequence of Kelley dancing with Jerry the mouse.

Does your print finish with a non-standard "The End", i.e. not the usual smart MGM titling?

I too have the 400' Digest and the Dance with Jerry the mouse is there. I believe the sequence has been slightly shortened; I know that some of the other musical sequences in it have been edited. The editing is good but a 2X400' release would have been just right. The Digest has the non-standard "The End". I wish they had used the original MGM End Title even if it was mute.

Although it has been years but I believe there was a 200 foot reel that also had the Jerry the Mouse dance sequence. The scene were Tom comes in is not in there.

Graham seems to have cracked the problem. I have just checked the film on a rewind and there is a discreet join made on a fade out/fade in just after the middle of the reel.

It seems obvious that a previous owner has removed the Jerry Mouse sequence. What a cheeky thing to do.

For those who have the 400' version this is where Sinatra and Kelly bring Grayson home after their visit to the club (where Grayson surprises them by singing a song for the patrons)...fade out. JOIN fade in.....Kelly dances with the little girl.

Thanks for all the interesting replies.
