My wife and I have talked about this a lot, and while we aren't made of bucks, (hell, we can't afford to go to the conventions here in the states, all because of the gas costs!) ...

We are in the works on starting a super 8/16/35 ect film convention in Boise Idaho, (Mountain Home, our home town wouldn't work well, but Boise would work GREAT!).

I know for a fact that there are a LOT of super 8 collectors out this a way, and, along with the assorted forums on the web, we'll also do our best to get news out locally, as much as possible.

However, I will need the help of those who have in fact gotten these things off the ground in the first place. How do I go about it (apart from finding an oblidging hotel site, but I'd need help with that)?

My e-mail address is ...

toac2001@hotmail.com

... from my e-mail, I'll send my phone number to ya, if you desire it. Please don't use my PM, as, it sends but does not recieve, for some reason.

Hey, if I could get a super 8 release off the ground and done ... I can do this, and I SOOOOO want to meet so many of you fine folks!

Sincerely

OSI Osgood

Create an ad, decide on how you want to approach the idea - John Black and I scaled it down to film only, like the old days in NJ, and already we're in our 7th gathering - You can do the same thing, why not come over and see how we're doing? - Shorty

Sadly Shorty, it's all about cost for us, namely gas going back and forth (in that V6 van, all the way across the states? and don't forget the cost of hotel rooms, ect.) ...

... but if I can take that same cash i would have spent just going back and forth to Wildwood, I could definitely get this off the ground.

As you stated, this will be for film guages, not "digital guages", there's plenty of venues for that!

By the way folks, though I just mentioned this yesterday, this is NOT an April fool joke. I am in earnest about this.

Beyond that, there is a part of me that is absolutely curious as to just how many film collector there may well be in the local area that i have never even known!

I think the only small portion of this convention may be "seller tables", as I doubt there are many around these here parts.

Old film friend/collector of mine lives out your way, must be about 83 by now - Great and knowledgeable - Nate Alexander, if you write him (no computer), mention Shorty - Perhaps he can give you a few pointers; Used to collect alot of 16, especially Mickey Mouse and 8mm, we traded and purchased alot through the years, just heard from him last week - I know it's hard to fly out here, but choose a place, perhaps a senior center or some hotel, or city-building, perhaps you can connect with and start a show there - Believe me, once you advertise about a film show, they will beat the path to your door - Trying to help, Shorty
