Hi Adrian, and thanks for the trouble you've taken. I havent a machine, I was just going to do a very careful application of a sprocket at a time by anchoring the film on a board, and applying it very carefully. Luckily it's only about five feet, caused by a dodgy splice that no one bothered to sort out, but it should be okay as long as the films under tension and secure and I can unroll the repair tape along it's length. I did do the CIR splice tape repair on a short piece of S/8 some years ago, and it does work as long as the film is clear of lubricant etc.I still don't understand why this stuff is so expensive, it must be made in much the same way as splicing tape except pre punched.I can understand various aspects of this hobby being expensive, but for a bit of sticky tape, they take it beyond a joke.

That's good advice Maurice, the film is printed on Ilford stock,is a B/W film from the '60's, so shrinkage might be a problem, but nothing ventured, nothing gained, I'll chance it.Luckily I favour the Bell & Howells, despite having some Elfs, as B&H tend to be more tolerant of older stocks.
