Hi guys
Im a bit new to all of this, I just picked up an Elmo st-1200, it didnt run so i opened it up and sticky lumps of black drive belt fell out.
Does any one know of any were in New Zealand I can pick up a replacement belt?
Or is there a standard size "O"ring that will do the job?(Had to ask)
Also the glass in the bulb cover is cracked, will this cause a heat problem for the film?

I hope some one can help.

Welcome Brent!

If the glass you're talking about is what I think it is, it's actually supposed to have that "crack" in it, so you should be OK. (Many ST-1200s, including mine, have this heat shield removed for more light on screen.)

If you have no luck locally, this E-bay seller has the correct belts for your ST-1200: (I've bought from him several times and have always been pleased.)

Isellprojectorbelts

There are several different models within the ST-1200 family (ST-1200D, ST-1200HD...), and you'll need to know which one you have to get the right belts.

The only info I have is what is written on the projector it's self.
Elmo sound st-1200 magnetic.
The internet is full of pix of them (good to see the company still going) but no new information on mine.

Of you want, contact "Seal Imports Ltd" in Auckland its Ph09 579 3646. If its an early ST1200M projector which it sound like "239EPR O Ring IMP" should do the trick for only NZ$4 dollars.

Graham.

Hello Brent,
Theres a couple of dealers here in the UK that do a replacement belt for these. I'm sure Paul Foster is one of them.
I keep meanaing to get the three belt sizes for the 1200HD.That way any belt supplier should be able to sort some.
Ive always kept the glass heat shield on my projectors, the amount of light difference, from what ive seen, isnt that much better. (it benefits the 18fps speed more).
I worke on the principle that if it was manufactured with it they did it for a reason. Once removed you wouldnt be able to use still projection with the lamp on for too long or you'd burn the film. The split is to allow the expansion with the heat.

My glass was removed by some prior owner.

Good thing I read one of these "My glass is cracked!" discussions in this Forum and checked it out before I decided to try out still frame, No?

Brent, I think once you get your ST-1200 healthy you'll find it's nearly indestructable. The guts of mine look a lot more like a piece of industrial equipment than typical consumer electronics. I pop open audio and video electronics these days and they are built like my son's toys!

Sorry I haven't reported back about the belt. Life got in the way of the hobby.
Graham, You are a legend. I got the O ring you suggested about a week after you told me about it. I have had it in the glove box of my UTE, and only tried to put it in today. It fit like a glove.

Thanks
