I just bought an Italian print of Goldfinger and redubbed the sound into English. I used a Blu-ray film on my laptop. I just ran a patch cord from my lap top to the audio in of my Chinnon 7000MV. The sound is terrific. However, it's not always in sync. I thought I remember reading a posting some tome ago about a unit that plugs inline between the source and the destination that keeps it in sync. Or do I have to keep watching it and jump the source file ahead or behind depending where the film is?

Hi, Pasquale!
The posting you are referring to is probably the "sync box" specifically built for use with the Elmo GS 1200. This way the GS runs at 16.(66), 18, 24 or 25 fps crystal sync (QUARTZED). And it never drifts.
With machines that are not quartzed, the only way to proceed is the way you suggested yourself.

Be aware that some films may have a different version from a country to another. Just a few seconds differents will of course make your dubb out of sync.

I've found that playing the DVD Paton your player can keep
sync for a few minutes before it drifts. It is possible to redub your
film just by recording loose until it drifts,take it back to the last point of synchronisation, then rerecord. I used to do this with
recording tape years ago, it is labourious, but does work.The Elmo
ST1200 was ideal as you could slip on record and erase the plop
on soundthat occurred when the projector was stopped just by over lapping.
