Do you prefer tape, cement or superglue to splice your films?

is Kodak press tapes any good?

I was reading past post and it said guillotine splicers are the best. is there a cheaper splicer just as good?

thanks
Brian

The Marguet is a good splicer, using a chamfer for the join, making it thinner going through the gate, the Eumig Chemo is a good one
to, them there is the Kollmatic, that used motorised grinders to
make an almost invisible join. All the afore mentioned Brian, are cement splicers.

tape is probably the best since you do not loose frames cement splices require cutting one frame out each time. I use both my leaders are all cemented but use tape on the films that are poly.

Since most of what I splice are home movies I'm less worried about loosing a frame or two. I prefer the Bolex 8mm/Super 8 Beveled Splicer. It's easy to use and makes a splice that you can barely notice going through the projector.

Another reason I prefer cement to tape is because I clean my film with Filmrenew. That stuff dissolves tape splices.
