Many members have a Sankyo 800 Stereo projector and many would like to acquire one. However, they seldom seem to be on offer and can be expensive. But has anybody thought about a Bell & Howell DCT? Made by Sankyo and badged as a Bell & Howell, it does not appear to have an equivalent Sankyo model.
It is a twin-track machine, with its two volume controls it can play back stereo although it can't record in stereo. For stereo playback connections are made to the two monitor jacks but, of course, you will need to feed the two signals to a separate stereo amplifier. The projector's DIN speaker socket can only output a mono signal.
I assume the amplifier is the same as the 800 (max 15w x 15w, rated 10w x 10w) but unfortunately the Instruction Book does not quote any specifications.
Here are the main features of the DCT:-
150 watt lamp with low/high settings f1.2 15mm - 25mm lens 800' spool capacity Twin track 18/24 fps plus variable speed Tone control LED recording meter (4 green/1 red) also operates on playback
I have both projectors and can thoroughly recommend them.

I own both machines too, but the amp on the DCT is not the same as the 800. Also I think this specific model by B&H is much more similar to Sankyo's model 700/702 than to the 800....

I've never owned the B&H but I had the 800. I sold it because it had too many bells and whistles for me. I'm a simple man However, I wish I'd kept it now.
Maurice, did the 800 have any advantages over the DCT? I might be tempted to buy one (a DCT) - as you say, the 800 has become pretty expensive.

Michael The main advantage of the 800 is that it can record in stereo and its two speaker output terminals can be connected directly without the need of a separate stereo amplifier. Other than that the DCT has everything going for it.
I cannot agree with the comment made by Maurizio about the similarity of the DCT to the 700 and the 702. I have both these also and they do not compare. The 700 has a 100 watt lamp, and whilst the 702 has a 150 watt lamp it has no provision for the output of a stereo signal.
As I said above the DCT does not appear to have a direct Sankyo equivalent.

I didn't konw the 702 from Sankyo has no discrete L/R line sound output. In this case I have to agree with you. Thank you for your punctualization.
