My S938 has suddenly developed a new problem, though the machine is running absolutely fine when track 2 button is depressed aloud buzzing sound can be heard drowning out the still existing pick up of the sound recorded on the balance track where applicable. The machine plays fine as a mono unit just whenever the track 2 or stereo button is depressed. I have noticed that by slightly and very gently wiggling the 5 pin din plug that is used to feed sound into my surround sound external amp then this sometimes momentarily allows the buzzing to disappear but when removing or releasing the movement of the 5 pin din lead it immediately returns. Anyone had any experience of a similar problem with this or the 940 amplifier?

Andrew, you might try connecting your 938 to your external stereo amp using the headphone socket in the 938 (which is what I do). This might by-pass the problem with the DIN ext amp socket.

Good idea Paul, I will give that a try if I have to hand a 6.3mm stereo jack to phono plugs lead. But in the long term I want it fully working as was because I feel it is only a minor fault as it is intrmittant and can be eliminated by just wiggling the 5 pin din lead.

It could be dry joints, but more likely to be dirty contacts in one or more of the switches.

You're probably not far out there Maurice! All I have done so far is operated each of the microswitches several times and sprayed a tiny amount of servisol super 10 to the connections on the board. Left it overnight and hey presto! For now, at least, all is working just as it should again! Fingers very much crossed. I must admit I suspected far worse as it sounded like an earth leakage problem on the board and I suspected component failure at first.

That's good to hear, Andrew, I have a similar projector, a Bauer 510 Stereo which gave a crackly sound on one of the tracks. The trouble was eventually traced to a dirty contact on one of the track selectors.
