I have a Revere 85 projector with two light switch problems.
First, the on/off position is switched.
Secondly, when the lamp is on it doesn't stay on.
I took the projector electrical apart and the switch looks original and can only be installed one way to fit together. I noticed an old paper capacitor which I'd like to replace, but the value isn't printed on the cap.
Any ideas on the cap value and how to solve the lamp switch issue?

Thanks Pasquale for the response!
I tried to reverse the wires. Maybe I got confused when I cut and spliced them. I tried to mark the switch wires so I didn't get confused, but I could try again.
The thing is, those wires were not tampered with. They appeared to be as they were installed at the factory.

Does the Revere have a centrifugal switch, like some of the Kodascope's, that switches off the lamp if the projector speed is too low?

Good question Paul. You guys are certainly helping me to think outside the box.
The two physical switches, one for the motor and one for the lamp, are simple generic toggle switches. I thought they were working independently. However, I didn't disassemble the projector to the point where I could see where the motor switch connects to the motor.
If I have time this weekend, I'll tear it apart again and check. I'll also try switching the lamp switch leads if I don't find a centrifuge switch. I also have a new replacement toggle switch I might install to eliminate a switch problem.

Success! I replaced the lamp toggle switch and switched the leads. That seems to have solved the problem. the lamp is now off in the off position.

Well done Neal. The Revere is an awesome looking machine. I have mine on display in my screening room:

I agree. It is a pretty cool looking projector. Although it runs pretty loud. I'm on the lookout for newer 8mm or dual 8mm that is a little less noisy when projecting inside. Still, I'm glad the revere is working and its a good projector for outside viewing when I run my 16mm films this summer.
