Greetings fellow film enthusiasts,

I just installed a brand new take up belt on my Elmo ST-1200HD and it just started making a squealing noise when I run a film. I popped the back cover and ran the film and the belt as it loops around the top of the belt is very loose, slipping and flying up? The bottom of the belt is tight as it winds around but the top is very loose & slipping and thus making the squealing noise when you run a film. When I run the projector in reverse the belt is not loose or slips but tight? If this helps the upper belt is square and the two other belts are round so maybe I need to get a round belt for the upper take-up belt? The belt that broke was a spring belt and it worked great! Did Elmo make a round take up belt or a spring belt in their later models? I also forgot to mention that when I run the projector in the forward mode without a film the belt is fine and it only slips when I run a film? Has anyone experienced this problem before and what I can do to fix it because the squealing noise the belt is making is too distracting.

Thank you,
RS

Hi Igor,

Why are you not sharing your knowledge with the whole room?
If you have the solution to the problem being discussed here, why not make your answer available to all of us to see?

The question was addressed to the whole room, so private answers seem in-appropriate and unhelpful to all the other members reading about this problem.

Nobody knows what the advice was that you gave about this problem. Why would you want to keep that private?

Hey Frank,
Good to hear from you again have not heard from you lately.

It's all good Pat and I usually correspond back and forth
with a PM so he did not really do anything wrong.

Hi Roger,

Did you and Igor figure out why the projector is squealing?

I understand Frank's question. It sounds always better to solve a technical problem on the forum rather than privately as many people can benefit of it. There is, indeed, nothing wrong with private message and send and receive myself. It is just that when it could help other members, it would be nice if it was shared. I don't think Frank was jealous [Big Grin]

Hi Frank,
How are things on the gold coast bet you are enjoying your winter now! Our summer sucks here in the desert 112 yesterday!

Ir appears that the take-up belt is too large but it's tight on the two pulleys. I took a pix of the belt when projecting a film and I will send it to your email address and maybe you can figure out what is going on here?

Thank you,
RS
