I am not sure if this is the right place to ask but, hope somebody happens to know.

I bought this "...vintage 8mm film bauer schmalfilm-klebepresse film splicer...." with no instructions how to use it, can anybody help?

I used to splice years ago using the wife's nail polish remover.

I tried it now on a bit of film & it does not stick. Maybe the modern acetones are different?. .....thanx ......nick

Obvious point - I hope you are not trying it on polyester film, that definitely won't stick with acetone.

thanx Brian,

I really do not know what it is, did they have polyester films 30-40 years ago?

One of the white leaders says "processed by Kodak"

What should I use on polyester?

It appears that the film is standard 8 and is obviously a home movie. I don't think Kodak polyester was around for home movie use although I might be wrong.
I suggest some new and fresh cement is used for splicing the film which is most probably acetate.

Thanx Maurice,

any glue/cement will do?

The old home films are 8mm standard.

Nick
This sounds OK and includes a brush and basic splicing instructions.
