Thanks to Janice who sent me a manual I was able to remove the casing and see that the shutter drive shaft gear is worn down. If I can manage to remove it, where would I look for a replacement shutter?

Nearly as we can figure it, they made their gears out of some kind of Pasta and at this age they never run very long without the gears disintegrating.

These folks rebuild the old shutter with a new gear:

Rebuilt Moviedeck Shutter

The pain of it is even if you managed to stumble on a new old stock part, the aging of the plastic would give you a brittle gear and bring you right back where you are before too long.
