I don't remember ever seeing the standard 8 version. I do remember the 9.5 version opening with the GO-JI-RA kanjis, though.

Hi Jean-Marc,
I got my copy (which came in on Thursday) from a French seller on ebay. Our moderator Doug Meltzer mention this once before being available in Standard 8 mm. I watched the first reel tonight but sadly,no opening credits.Considering the rarity of this digest,I'm happy just to have a copy now!

Yes Douglas, cherish that reel as in my 30+ years of collecting, I've only seen it once.

Douglas,

This well edited digest starts with the Film Office logo, fades out, then fades in to this title:

 -

Did your print come with any original artwork?

Hi Doug,
I watched reel one last night, and it appears to have the opening logo and title missing. My reel starts with a brief scene of the villagers and then cuts to the storm on the island at night, and Godzilla's first appearance at that point.Missing titles aside, the film appears to be in good condition other than a few faint lines on the right side of the frame. The reels came in a couple of aftermarket plastic film cases with corresponding reels.I would be curious to see what the original packaging was like.
