I bought one for my wife years ago because she's a big fan of the TV series.

It's chiefly about a football game the 4077th plays and the ...unorthodox tactics they use to win it.

I guess it helps to be a fan of the original feature: it doesn't pay to view it from the point of view of the Alan Alda version!

-From that perspective it's not very "Mashy"!

Thanks guys,

I've just won it on ebay - I saw the full feature years ago - and to be honest - I did wonder how the editor would cut down such a film. I don't remember the football game - so as I bought it as a souvenir of the film - I am looking forward to watching it.

It's almost more an extract than a digest. If I remember right, the reel ends at the end of the game, but not the end of the Movie.

I'm motivated here: think I'll watch it again tonight!

They should have done like PATTON and done the football game as a separate reel. OK, there was not a football game in PATTON, but you probably know what I mean.

I used to own the 200' version, and it had the shower fail scene with Hot Lips, and the football game mentioned here.I'm assuming the 400' version expands upon those two extracts.

I still have the 200ft version. It is all very pink now, which is appropriate for the shower scene.

I seem to remember a lot of the full feature is about getting the pro player for the football match at the end.

Everyone is right on the money...the football game is the basis of the edit. Hot Lips' shower scene and a short introduction to Hawkeye arriving in Korea and the M*A*S*H* compound are the only other scenes. It is interesting, however, that Hot Lips begins the 200' digest while this scene has been placed at the end of the 400' digest. When I won a copy I lucked out since the previous owner had recorded the television theme song onto the leader and (very short) Ken title sequence.

Just watched it:

Color, sharpness and sound were all very good, it's just with all that football going on there weren't a lot of "*M*A*S*H*"-like things!

I did see Gary Burghoff a few times. I guess that has to count for something.

Hi everyone,

I should have my copy by the weekend - as I said I'll keep it as a souvenir of this film as with some of Ken Films cutdowns - unfortunately with too much going on an excerpt was better than nothing at all.

I will post a review once seen.

I bought it years ago as I was also a fan of the series but sold it almost immediately as thought this cut down was very poor and as mentioned is mostly the football game.

well I've seen it but I will watch it once more tomorrow and post a Review - it's not bad - just a little confusing with the story - I need to see it again to give it a more favourable perspective as I quickly watched it in the kitchen - where there was too much going on.
