I bought a few Standard 8 films and they were sent to me in their original packaging, it's a sturdy cardboard box with "Blackhawk Films, Davenport, Iowa" printed on one side of the box, on the other side it has a stuck on address sticker (again with the Blackhawk logo) on the top of the box it has the customs sticker, then 2 small printed postage values of $1 & 25C, with the postmark of SEP 6 '63. It's really amazing something like this has survived (in nearly pristine condition) for 52 years, do you think any of today's packaging will survive that long. I'm actually keeping the box as a memento of long gone days.

No, today's packaging approaches that of a flimsy, toss-it-out uncollectible nothing - No delicacy anymore nowadays, and that care which went into a creative and appealing display - Such is the case of a film box, much like a toy box, gum card box/wrapper, book jacket or vinyl album cover - By all means, sir keep that box as I have many hundreds of times maintained, as you are obtaining 2 collector items in one; a choice film and carton, both of which will stand the test of time and collectors - Cheers, Shorty

This reminds me of a question that perhaps Shorty (or someone else) could answer ...

What was the years or years that Blackhawk not only printed the outside of the boxes, but also the INSIDE of the box with illustrations advertising they're films?

I think that's it Shorty. If I remember correctly (I have some of those green boxes and I'll have to look at them tonight), the illustration in the inside label (bottom?) was of an illustrated piece of celluloid, with photo's of a number of the silent comedians.

I've just looked at all the films that came in the box, and considering they all come from 1963, the condition was very good on each one (all war orientated).
