Dare I mention the word Christmas?

It would be interesting to compile on here as complete as possible listing of 8mm films issued with a Christmas theme to perhaps assist newer film collectors in a quest for seasonal titles.

Here goes, that's not a title by the way!

All of what's on Lee and Tom's list plus of course The full length 600ft Derann version of "The Small One" plus Madagascar Penguins Christmas Capers oh and the snowman if not already mentioned.

I reckon you could start a film show at 8am on Christmas morning and go right through to the evening with what's out there on 8mm for the Christmas period.

Ah yes sorry Lee, Snowman already included, my mistake.

For features we have "A Christmas Carol" and "It's A Wonderful Life" to name just a few oh and of course wasn't the original Die Hard set at Christmas time?

I was going to mention "Big Business", Lee.

It's kind of everything Christmas isn't supposed to be!

-kind of teaching by "BAD" example!

Between this one and "Two Tars" we have a line we use whenever something goes wrong around the house: "WHO Started all THIS?!!!"

Back in Cub Scout days we showed "The Small One" (600 Ft.) to our Cub Den, I'll always remember it because the film really grabbed the kids, quieted them down and had them paying attention.

-That takes some doing.

Some of the best Christmas movies I have are ones I shot with my first movie camera when I was a teenager. Mom and Dad subsidized a couple of rolls of Ektachrome 160 every December and I produced a family classic. Those of us still here, and even a few that weren't at the time get together and enjoy seeing things the way they were all those years ago.

Wonderful memories Steve.. Amazing the links we carry with our own home movies and settling round a home movie projector over oh so many years, all extremely special. Our childhood Christmas's were very simple family gatherings in the 60's along with Dads special film screening we looked forward to so much, wondering what film he had hired from the library.

There is absolutely nothing that can compare with a Christmas Eve or Christmas day family film show, using our own favourite films and 'reel' film projectors.

We have that "A Christmas Carol" (1951) feature as well, wonderful viewing every year!

Also, another fairly rare super 8 Christmas title from Blackhawk ...

"How the Animal's Discovered Christmas"

Sadly, I think that all the printings of this specific title suffer from not being printed on low fade stock (Ours has a slight fade), but still a fun watch from the golden era of Children's educational films that used to be shown in classrooms many years ago, that were a part of Blackhawk's curious releases.

I think it was listed, but Blackhawks release of "The Littlest Angel", and this one DID make it onto LPP film stock (yay!)

I'd completely overlooked the fact that of course, Lady is a Christmas themed film. Maybe Mr Adsett should add it to his Christmas Day viewing list Also! [Wink]

Hello Andrew

Sheila Graber was regularly featured in Movie Maker and I think Film Making too as a 10 Best winner and artist / animation tutor.

Another of her excellent films ideal for Christmas is 'The Boy And The Cat' released on Super 8 by DCR.

Also a nice Super 8 Disney one to look out for is 'Once Upon A Wintertime'
