I'm sure that SOMEBODY out there will remember this add in comic books.
Back in the 1970's, in Marvel Comic books (and I'm betting, DC as well), there was an add for a toy projector for kids that appeared to only take 50ft reels and ran on batteries. I'm assuming that it was plastic, as it was cheap.
Does anyone remember this? Did anyone actually acquire one? Does anyone actually have that old add?

What a little hunk a junk! You hit it right on the head: all plastic, 50 foot capacity (I once cut down a 200 footer and put it on 50' reels), and it took a regular light bulb! I can still hear the noise it made because it sounded like a cheap sewing machine and pretty much ran that way-a pin continuously pulling the sprocket down and jumping up to catch (and mangle) the next. If you made the room pitch black, you could get a recognizable image of about 12 inches across. I loved that horrible little blue thing until Santa brought me a basic GAF Dual 8 one Christmas. The upgrade was a revelation to me, and compared to the toy projector, the GAF seemed like a GS1200.

Wow! I'm glad to see that someone remembered it! (and actually had one, I never did). I'm going to go on a search of thrift stores to find old comic books from the 70's to see if I can find that old advert!
