Is it just me, or is this a good rule of thumb to go by?
In my rummaging through piles of second hand films over the years, there seems to be a trend that, if the condition of the outer box is lousy, it's pretty much certain that the film inside it has not been looked after very well. Scratches/burns/splices/erased sound etc.

Good point,Lee.
It has only happened to me once. Several years ago I bought a 2x 400' film in a double size white box marked "The Treasure of The Sierra Madre" (Bogart). Got it home. Reel one was. Reel 2 appears to be a middle reel from a horror feature which is actually pretty good!No idea which film it came from so I may even post some screen shots on here soon to see if anyone can help. Anyway, finally got reel 2 of Sierra Madre at Blackpool last November so all is not lost.
