Hey! I did something that I have never done before!

These long winter nights, also make for long winter mornings, and since I had everything I needed to get done, done early before taking Devin to school, I decided to have a film showing since it was still dark outside ...

Therefore ...

For me, "Tit For Tat" (Laurel and Hardy)

for the Kids ... "Cobweb Hotel" (Max Fleischer cartoon, a rare LPP color print with color that's almost passable. It has much wider range of color than on any other copy I have watched, DVD or youtube combined.)

We do this at our place too, Osi. One of my housemates is over 50 (same as me-and you too, now!), so sometimes we run our Saturday morning cartoons on 16mm before it gets too bright. The Wacky Races, The Herculoids,Frankenstein Jr. and the Impossibles, The Fantastic 4 are the usual favorites. If our housemate who is 36 is up and about, we fire up the GS1200 to show digests of Star Wars & The Empire Strikes Back (have you heard of those movies?).

I do some mornings in the winter too.

-but I usually keep it to silent reels, my family usually isn't up yet!

Steve, that's what headphones are for! If I'm the first one up, I'm more nervous about the projector noise, but I haven't had any complaints (yet).

Unusually I've been working on the editing of 9.5mm filming and trying to make some headway for the 9-5 International Competition. Not entered a cine film in competition for many years so have been a bit lacking thus making extra effort. [Smile]

Last night I screened - the b/w RKO print of the scope print of "I married a woman" with Diana Dors and then I screened my newly acquired print of "Nothing but the Night" with the great Christopher Lee, Peter Cushing, Diana Dors and Michael Gambon and Fulton McKay - a great little chiller.

Unfortunately no commercials on the Hanna Barbera stuff; but a few are low fade and that's always nice. It would be cool to set up a mini theatre in the basement so we could run films anytime, but our basement is prone to flood in spring and summer, so that's out.

Headphones understood Paul, except there is a method to my madness here!

I was a silent collector from ages 16 through 39, then all of a sudden I decided to go all 20th Century and get sound!

I find when I give my silent reels screen time I really still enjoy them, it's just my first instinct is to grab sound films.

-This is just giving them their time.

In the evenings I go with sound. I often ask the rest of 'em the next day and they aren't complaining about the volume. (Means I need a bigger amp...maybe one with cooling fans!)

Was feeling a bit out of sorts yesterday morning, so instead of 8mg of tablet,it was 8mm of film that was the tonic!
Not a long session, first "County Hospital" with Laurel and Hardy which was a recent ebay purchase - good condition and great sound.
Then.... it was a 400' cut down that I recently obtained at Phil's CHC open day, and a cut down I have never seen before...."Alien"
In a nut shell......WOW! What an edit! Film and sound quality really good. Then finished off with one of those Universal 100' classic scenes reels,which was the explosion from "Airport."

Then it was time to go to work........
