I have just bought a second hand Sankyo camera that takes Kodachrome II film cartridge. Can you still get this film or its equivalent even in b/w? Where can I get it processed?
Any help would be a great help. I will probably only ever do it once due to cost!

Hi Trevor,

Tri-X is Kodak's current Super 8 black and white film and I suspect it will work in your camera just fine. There might be other films more readily available in Europe.

Other people will probably be more helpful in terms of where you can get it processed in the UK. If you're adventuresome and don't mind a few scratches/imperfections, you can process it yourself pretty cheaply. Do a google search on Caffenol C.

Give Camera Centre, 53 High Street, Hailsham, East Sussex a call: Tel 01323 840559 as they supply all things Super 8. Also Classic Home Cinema, 51 Cambridge Street, Cleethorpes Tel 01472 291934 for just about anything and everything to do with film and projectors. Can't tell you anything about price except it will probably be expensive. You might like to tell us how you get on.

I can get tri X on fleabay but can't find where to get it processed. I did find a site in the eu that say they supply the film and processing so will see what happens

B & H Photo in the States has it pretty cheap and will ship to the UK.

For me anyway, it's cheaper than most of the listings on Ebay. If you do use Ebay, I'd ask the seller how old the cartridge is first. The film will get less sensitive to light over time. Lots of people use old film with good results but there's no point in buying old if it costs almost the same or more than new.

I have found a supplier of Kodak tri X and I have ordered a film to try. I have also found a firm in London that offers processing at a price.
I will update result later
