Jim
You could try a request to the manufacturers in Italy.

A closer supplier for you would be Jacro Cinema Supplies, USA. I have used the UK branch to purchase a CIR 16mm blade. Not cheap but probably cheaper than
CIR Italy.

Maurice, they said they don't supply parts for amatature splicers probably be cheaper to buy a new plastic one and see if the parts are transferable.
Terry your link did not work.

I assume you are after parts for the small Super 8 CIR splicer. As you say, you could buy an old one for the parts.
Here is a link to Jack Roe USA Inc, but I doubt if you will be able to get any parts from them, you may receive a similar answer as you had before.

The link works if you follow the redirect but it's the same as the link that Maurice gave you. I agree that if it's an 8mm splicer they may not be able to help but worth a try. They were made to be repairable like the large 16mm cir's so it is possible to replace both the blades and the hole puncher but have you tried cleaning the punches and the punch holes? They do accumulate sticky residue around the the punch and punch holes after a lot of use. This of course interferes with the precision cutting/punching. Same thing applies to the blade. Remove all tape and residue from everywhere and start afresh, but remember to replace the matrix, which is just applied by using the splicer as you would do to to splice film, but without film in place. This lays a layer of tape on the splicer ( the matrix) which is essential for the operation of the splicer thereafter. I do it on quite a regular basis.

Hello Jim

Could you show us a picture of the model you have then I can have a look to see if I have any spare parts for it here.

Also did your cutting and perforation hole punching problems start after fitting a new roll of splicing tape? I ask as the same thing happened to me and the problem was the new tape (brand 'x') and not the splicer - I fitted a newer roll of tape this time from PEC and it worked perfectly again.

Kevin

Kevin its never really punched very well and the blade I took off years ago and use a razor blade to cut the tape, I did manage to buy another splicer on ebay the owner said it cut everything just fine...we'll see! if you want to see if you can get parts I"m looking for the main blade and the perforation prongs. thanks Kev.

I can understand that the blade sometimes need replacing but the hole puncher is a metal casting and is unlikely to wear significantly. From the photo it looks like there could be bits of tape and sticky residue that needs cleaning off. All precision equipment works better when clean. Just give it a try.
