Hello-
Hopefully owners of this machine can pipe in.
I am testing this without film.
When I put it into play mode the lamp does not come on and the take up reel does not spin.
But when the machine is in threading mode, green lever down, the lamp does not come on but the take up reel does activate. When I put it into play mode if the green lever Is still down the lamp still does not come on.
If I put the machine into rewind it causes the Green lever to pop up and then the film rewinds and I can get the lamp to light. So.....
Is this machine designed so that the lamp will not come in if their is no film in the projector? If not.. how do I get the machine to go into play mode without film?

To thread the SS1200:-

1) Push the loop button down and it will lock
2) Set the main switch to "auto projection" position
3) Insert the film leader into the film guide entrance and the film will automatically insert itself to the take-up spool and the lamp will light as projection commences.
4) When the film reaches its end the lamp and motor will automatically switch off.

To set up initially on a screen with the lamp on and no film you need to select the lower left switch position.

Hi Maurice,
Yes thanks for that- I saw that in the manual. I was wondering if there was a way to get the projector to go into Play mode with the lamp on without actually having any film in the projector.
If not.. that is truly an Automatic Projecting machine! [Smile]

The answer to your question is no, it will not go into play mode without a film. I assumed that you didn't access to the manual.
