Yep, there have been lots of posts, but I thought I'd try a slightly different angle ... alternate super 8 optical sound prints.
I have, over the last 14 or so years (and also when I used to collect in the late 80's), different versions of feature films on super 8 optical. I'll start out this post by mentioning two of them ...
1. The Man Who Would be King.
Classic John Huston action/adventure classic! The U.S. version was the U.S. release of the film, and it was released in the flat format.
The overseas version, in the U.K. and elsewhere, was the U.K. cut of the film, including the alternate ending, (which has the shot in close-up of Sean Connery falling down the chasm, which is NOT in the U.S. version), and the U.K. super 8 optical sound feature is in the LETTERBOX format!! yummy!
2. Island of Dr. Moreau. The U.S. version is in the flat format, as is the overseas version.
However, the overseas version has about four or so minutes of uncensored footage in it as well. Once such sequence was the more "naughty" (actually pretty tame), love scene between Micheal York and Barbera Carerra (GRRRROWL! Sorry, couldn't help myself).
Anybody else know of alternate versions of optical sound super 8 features?
