For users or expert of Fujica ZC1000: does anyone know if in the "old" or "new" model of this camera the detection of light (and result the move of needle) of the internal lightmeter also work WITHOUT pressing the shutter release in half way , but only with the selector on the "RUN" mode and not in "LOCK" mode?

I have the manual for the New and it says that the internal lightmeter only activates if you push it halfway down.

But the manual also states to always keep the camera in the LOCK position when not using it.

So I just remembered this post yesterday as I took the ZC-1000 for a spin. Wouldn't you know it, the light meter is always on no matter what. Interesting. I won't be keeping the battery pack connected, when not using it, anymore.

By the way, I got film for it from a gentlemen in Japan who shipped it very quickly. I ordered it from his business called Retro8 Enterprises and it was delivered two days later. Processing is included in the film price.

Sorry, Christian, I don't know english very well. In the second post you wrote that your Fujica lightmeter works WITHOUT pressing the release button in half way?

I also buy from Retro8, is a well known store for those who use the Single 8 format. Mr. Tak doesn't have only shop job and it can take some time before he answers you, but then he shipped products with great seriousness, everything very accurate, fast development and all Ok. A great store in japanese style! It also sends you back packs where the cartridges are!

Battery in camera = Light meter always ON
No battery in camera = Light meter OFF

Not using camera? Take batteries OUT.

For you, our camera have been electric modification?
Because on all manuals, all versions of the Fujica 1000 (new and old) have the half way release button.
Did you buy you camera new? I bought it used, maybe the previous owner made a change on circuits.

Simple curiosity, not a problem, is just as you say, just take the batteries off.

Sorry to contradict you guys, but even with the batteries in, the lightmeter will not seem to be working if the main switch is set to "LOCK"; when it's set on this mode, and the release trigger half pushed in, the needle in the viewfinder will not move. So logically there is no response... the lightmeter must be off as the rest of the camera....

True it is the owner's manual mentions to remove the batteries for any prolonged time of not use, but this is for the same reasons we are always supposed to do so, and not because of the lightmeter working pointlessly. Namely to contrast leakage from batteries...

I was speak wrong, Maurizio.
Certainly in "OFF" the light meter needle does not work (and taking out the batteries is just a precaution if you don't use the camera for a long time), as long as the "strange" thing is the lighmeter needle working without pressing in halfway the shutter release button, as they say the manuals of all versions of the Fujica ZC1000.

Whether it's a difference of some models like my camera and of Christian or a modification that was used to make the in ZC1000, I could not say it.
I would say halfway method can be useful to save charge when camera is in ON, but the batteries in this camera have long charge, is an unnecessary option.

As I said, is just a curiosity, since I find more comfortable without pressing in halfawy, which would cause me to start shooting by mistake.
