I know many of you are familiar with the Eumig 800 series of projectors, so I wondered if someone can help with what I believe is a small issue?

The motor, as many of you know, rocks on a pivot either forward or reverse to allow the bearing wheel to contact the rubber drive discs. The amount of travel of the 'rocker' appears to be controlled by two screws at the base of the motor.

I think both of those screws are meant to be fixed and shouldn't budge. However, the forward rocker screw on my S807 over time, and presumably through vibration, moves clockwise and so eventually stops the wheel making contact with the rubber drive disc. The only way to fix it is to take the back off the PJ and manually 'unscrew' it a few rotations anti-clockwise until the wheel makes contact with the disc again. However, I suspect that the amount of travel of the rocker is supposed to be absolutely precise.

Does anyone know how to permanently fix that screw in place, with no give, so that the rocker and wheel consistently apply the correct amount of pressure to the drive disc?

Martin
Are you sure that the two screws to which you refer are not the two retaining screws which are used as transport locks?
They should be removed when new before use.

Thanks so much, Maurice. Yes, it's in the manual too. I'm amazed that the previous owner hadn't done so. Sorry, note to self: RTFM.

So glad to be of help.
It's inconceivable that it has been like that since it was new in the mid seventies.

I think it probably was, Maurice. Someone had tried to glue the screws into place, half undone! I had to clean off the screw threads before removing completely.

The screws should have really been removed by the original selling dealer when it was new.
However, the first purchaser was also at fault when he obviously didn't read the instructions which refer to the two transit screws.
