I've got an interesting project to do.

My son has been to CineSea with me twice and has caught the bug. He asked me to get him a projector, and says he doesn't care if it's silent.

What an astounding chance to make a legacy, and even have something to share now.

So I rummaged through the injured reserve and found one Yelco P-111-B. It's silent, Dual-8 and continuously variable speed (...hmmmm!). This particular one was a gift from a guy I used to work with. (Cleaning out his house...)

Inside it's very clean and kind of Elmo-ish in construction. The bulb is one of those robot looking ones, the belts are now ancient history. Belts and Bulb are both available. The motor runs and the lamp lights!

So very shortly I will restore this little critter to life and offer my kid life beyond X-Box!

By any chance does anybody out there have a manual for this beast?

Like a calf out grazing with the herd!

Hello Steve,

I have the user's manual for the P-111-Q which, except for the lamp (EFP for this one and CXR for yours), is practically identical. I also have a belt installing diagram (installing belts can be tricky in this machine). I will send you a copy of both as soon as I answer this post.

I also may have spare parts for this machine as well as the belts, let me know if you need any.

Your ST-800 (for spare parts) will ship next week.

The Yelco P-111-B is an excellent machine, one of the latest one produced, very quiet and a good performer.

Thanks Jon!,

The belt installation is the big issue here: it looks like the top shaft needs to come out to access the pulley.

I'm pretty sure I can figure it out on my own, but why take the chance of doing something foolish if I don't have to?!

Thanks also for the parts machine: it will keep me in business for a long time!

You are correct Steve relating the belts - Also, you will need to move the power transformer, etc. It is clearly detailed in the drawing.

I sent the items to your gov email address, let me know if that was the correct one and if you received them. If you prefer, I can send them again to another address.

I thought this story needed an epilogue.

I got a new set of belts and changed them out. It's the single worst belt change I've ever experienced: I had to unscrew the motor, the power transformer and two shafts to get the two belts in. It was one of these jobs with a screw down at the bottom of a valley between two big parts that has you easing the screw into place with a magnetic screwdriver, a little prayer, a lot of patience and a muffled obscenity (son was in the room) when it went skittering off.

-It's also one of those jobs where you are tightening up the last screw and only then discover a fairly major part you forgot to reinstall at the beginning. (This would be my fault, of course...)

A wire popped off the voltage select switch: a little soldering set things right.

I did a lot of cleaning and some adjustment. Then we ran a sacrificial film, ran it again and it came through undamaged.

My son got out the Castle silent Abbott and Costello he bought from Lou Franchetti at CineSea. I showed him how to thread up, focus and frame. We watched and then I then showed him how to rewind.

-not half bad for a kid born in this century!

How nice too to take something dead easily 20 years and give it life again.

Many thanks to Jon Addams whose help made this a lot easier than it would have been otherwise.

Steve,

I'm happy to hear you got it going. It's a great projector and believe me, when I had to change to belts on mine for the first time, my obscenities WERE NOT muffled!

In any event, it was worth it, it's one of the nicest projectors I have ever owned and I am sure your son will love and use it for many years to come - that is if you don't take it back, it's that good, IMHO [Razz]

Hi,

My girlfriend (who works for the artist in residence program at the San Francisco dump) recently brought home a Yelco P-111b projector. My plan is to get it up and running for her birthday at the end of the month— I’ve ordered the new belts and bulb through ebay, and then also found this forum. If anyone has the user manual for this projector I'd love if you could pass it on to me! (Jon-- you will hopefully have also received a message from me since you indicated that you had a similar manual!)

Unfortunately, they are on my main computer at another house and I will not be back there until Wednesday, October 15.

Hi Jon, I’ve just recovered my late fathers Yelco P-111-B from 35 years loft storage. There were several reels of family film with it which I would now like to project. Do you still have a manual and instructions for replacing the drive belts! If so I would really appreciate a copy. I’m hoping to show the footage to my mother who is now 94. Thanks, Nigel

Steve and Winbert, thanks for the quick response. A bulb will hopefully arrive today and I’ll now order new drive belts. My late father left the projector with a temporary solution! Can’t wait to see his films.
