Does anyone know if "The Great Escape" starring Steve McQueen is available as a full length feature on Super 8? If so, how do I get a copy? I haven't seen it listed by any of the usual suppliers.
Thanks,
Dave.

Dear David,
Derann released a 2x400' edition, Flat & Scope, it was edited excellently, with a nice print to boot, but alas I've never seen a F/L print of this title.

David
I have the Derann release of the Lady Killers and it's one of the most re-watchable films in my collection. Apart form being one of the best Brit Comedies to come out of the 1950s, it's a great print with excellant colour and sound. Mine seems to have kept its colour well with no sign of fade.
I think it is still avavilable from Derann from their list of current releases. You do occeassionaly see it on the second hand lists too.

Hmmm... that's your call really. If it's important to you to have been the only owner of a film and to have had it from new then maybe the film is worth it. I have to admit I do like to buy newly printed films for that reason.
It is one of the best 50s Ealing Comedies with a great [and I would say, underated] performance by the wonderful Katie Johnson and cameo appearances from Frankie Howard in addition to the famous line up of Alec Guiness, Peter Sellers et al.
My print has great colour, sound and print quality, in fact - your just up the road from me so if you want to borrow it to help you make up your mind just let me know

How gracious of you, Mike.
I'll certainly give it some serious thought. I actually called Duncan, and he offered it to me for £200 as an advanced summer sale price! It is a brand spanking new print too. Might have to do it! I'll sleep on it.
Many thanks,
Dave.
