Hi
I'm new to the board, and I am looking for Lon Chaney prints. One in particular He Who Gets Slapped. The super 8 sound Blackhawk print of The Phantom Of The Opera, with the red scene.
I know they exist, but tracking them down is another story. I think Blackhawk only released five of his films. I could be wrong, but they are simply the best.
Thanks for any help Brad

Hi Brad,

I must admit that I am a Chaney fan too! Last year a guy from Canada (D'Arcy More) sold his 8mm/S8 films and there were quite a few Lon Chaney titles in his collection. I bought a S8 Blackhawk print of 'Oliver Twist' and a 8mm print of 'The Monster'. I also have a Blackhawk S8 print of 'Shadows'. Very good stuff! I would love to have 'He would get slapped', but have only seen it advertised once. D'Arcy had an 8mm print on his list, but is sadly gone. They are out there, but are hard too find.
I recently bought the 'Lon Chaney Collection' on DVD. It's no celluloid, but only the documentary 'Lon Chaney: A thousand faces' makes it worth buying. It also contains my favourite Chaney film: 'The Unknown' (I don't think that one ever made it to 8mm/S8)
Keep looking on Ebay. We might want to contact each other before bidding, in order not to drive up the price too much!

Best,

- Rob
