Hi,
I'm not sure if they exist but if they do, I'd like to find a copy of Thor Heyerdahl's 'Kon Tiki' from 1951. Also looking for 'Mermaids of Tiburon' from 1962.
A copy of these (or 2) in any format other than DVD and VHS would be great. 8mm preferred.
Thanks,
Brad

Long have I wanted a copy of Heyerdahl's legendary voygae - Years ago WLIW and WNET ran it, but that was before the VCR age - I've requested TCM run it, though it's short - Many obscure items are finding their way to DVD, though I'm a long-term Super/Std 8 collector - Welcome - Shorty

Hi I'm living not far from the museum where Kon-tiki is situated in in Oslo. The shop there should ofcourse have the film on dvd if nothing else. and I could pop in to check\get a copy for you if you can't get it. (dvd) Very unlikely that they will know anything about any 8mm release though.

Brad,

Welcome to the Forum.

These two items sound interesting. Do you remember the
name of the distributor in 8mm? It may be worth a try
on eBay searching under title and distributor.

Also, you may not wish to restrict your search to only 8mm.
Keep it open to all gauges as well.

Michael

Thanks all for the welcome. Neat place here as I'm new to the 8mm world. I just spontaneously started buying old films/projectors off ebay and elsewhere and have been enjoying this new 'hobby'.

Joe and Knut- I have found KonTiki on DVD. Having it on film would be great also.

Michael- Not sure of the prod. company or if either of these where ever released on film-just figured they may have been due to their age. Also any format aside from DVD or VHS would be great.

Update-(I'm searching as I write this reply)
'Mermaids of Tiburon' was distributed by 'Filmgroup' in 1962 and a "silly, sexed up" version as one critic has called it, was released as 'Aqua Sex'. I would prefer the original version but both would be interesting to see.

Kon-Tiki was distributed by RKO Radio

Thanks again for the welcome and the assistance,
Brad
