I have a ken films catalog and it says The Omen and Damien Omen II are available in silent editions. I have never seen them even on ebay anybody have them? how about "the incredible melting man"? I am mainly interested in silent super * prints of horror and sci-fi. anyone here share interest in this genre and format?

Hi Eric and welcome to the Forum.

Not my personal scene really, I'm more into railroading, westerns, travel/educational and full length features. However, I'm sure there are many members who share your interests, so I expect you'll have quite a response.

Enjoy your membership - you don't have to be mad to belong, but it helps.

Best regards,

Valves and celluloid - a great combination!
Early technology rules OK!

Eric,

Nice to have you here on the Forum! We have quite a few horror/sci-fi buffs here (including myself). When I got my first sound projector back in the 70's I stopped getting silent releases if they were also available in sound. I have many silent Ken's but my prints of "The Omen" 1&2 are the 400' sound versions. They, along with "Melting Man" were also available in 200' silent/sound but I've never seen those. The edit job on "The Omen" films is well done (we have a review here). "Melting Man" is a bit sloppy (pun intended) but fun to watch.

Doug

I think there's room for just one more film.....

I have been thinking of collecting some sound films too, now that I recently got my first Elmo st 1200 HD but I still love the silent ones cause thats what my dad had when I was a kid. I get the films now cause when I was 12 I couldnt afford all of the films I wanted with allowance.....so as an adult I seek out the silents, its hard to get non red prints thats why I dont collect more sound. I used to have some universal eight films, but they went pink and red......bummer. I really like the film format. I have nothing against dvd's they just arent the same. I would also love to get a 200 silent of ST. Valentines Day Masacre in the OB. thanks for the welcome you will see me around here from time to time. I have been reading this forum for some time and its been very educational. Nice to know how many people like me exist in the world [Smile]

Hi, Eric.... Yes these forums help film folks like us feel like we are not the only ones in the world with this ...hobby....ie mania. While many people pooh pooh ebay on this forum....I see tons of silent sci fi 200 footers on there every day at very cheap prices....I'd check it out.... I have only a few of the silent ones left . I did run across a silent 200 footer of the Three Stooges , We Want Our Mummy the other day which you could have. I think it's the original box. I'll look in my stuff and see what else turns up. I live in Manassas, Va. and work in D.C. Hope to hear more from you .
