For Sale - Derann print of Disney's "Beauty and the Beast".

Screen shots taken today;

Very nice Derann print of this Disney classic, bought new by myself from Derann's Dudley premises [Smile]

Supplied on 4 x 600ft spools and in original Derann box with colour label (tails and leaders slightly re-edited to give each 600ft spool a smoother end / start - print is totally complete and only good tape splices used and with plenty of new Kodak white leader at start / end of each spool).

Colour is beautiful throughout with exceptional sharpness; cleaned and ready to project.

Please note, this isn't a first print run, so there are some very light negative specks and marks throughout.

*** ESPECIALLY NOTE - Spool 3 has some negative damage; light white looped flecks, etc. over the centre / right centre of image.

Please see images 5 & 6 for an example of this - on the door in image 5 and on the Beast's arm image 6.

These are persistent and varied throughout all of spool 3; if only the lab took more care of the negative. [Roll Eyes]

Hopefully it won't spoil your enjoyment too much, but you will notice this and it is admittedly worse on viewing than the screen shots suggest.

Sound is stereo, although track 1 is a little muffled (as seemed to be the case with all Derann stereo releases of this era) but can be nicely boosted with a bit of EQ if you have the means.

Track 2 is very clear and both tracks are pretty smooth in quality (Derann post-stripe) with the very, very occasional "bump" in the bass and slight spill of sound stripe onto the right of image, which is easily masked off.

Again, trying to be as honest as possible to avoid any potential disappointment; nothing is perfect, but this is a very nice and enjoyable print.

Hi Rob, really great screen shots, whats your secret with the camera settings?, tried to get some shots of terminator to upload but either too dark or out of focus, some pics look like they've got the projector blade just closing over the frame. Good luck with the sale mate, colours look fantastic.

I have a print so I'm not a prospective buyer, but I must say it's a fair price and I applaud the amount of detail provided. We all know that many eBay sellers would completely fail to mention - or overlook - details such as the negative flaws and the sound. I must say that I was always very relieved if I bought a stereo feature and found the sound was fine on both channels of every reel, so I'd be surprised if a high proportion of prints in circulation have sound that's better than on this one.

I'm using my better half's Canon G9 for the screenshots..

First off, setting the white balance with the projector running no image.

Shutter is about 1/30th of a second, aperture f3.2, but I'm leaving it on auto.

Most images are blurred, so I have to take lots and sift through later, although I don't seem to get any with projector shutter.

I agree with Adrian. Rob has provided a very thorough detailing of the condition of this film. I am not in the market for this print, but if I were I would certainly buy it with confidence based on Rob's description, and its a very good price too for this print.
Too bad all sellers are'nt as honest as Rob.

Hi Rob, thanks for the info, i'll try again with these new settings in mind. As for the terminator print its as you described it and fantastic on the big screen I have, no doubt in my mind now that these early run prints are the one's to go for with stereo sound.

Man, looking at those shots just illustrates, yet again, just how magnificent those Derann prints really were! That is especially evident on that long shot showing the scenery.
