Having purchased Jurgen Lossau's book on movie projectors, I have decided to look for another Standard 8 sound projector.

Nothing wrong with my Eumig Mark S 810 D you understand, but I would rather like another Elmo.

I should like to go for a dedicated machine, so I have come up with a choice among 3 Elmos:

AP-8 optical & magnetic

TP-8 magnetic

TRV-R8 magnetic

If anyone knows of any of these machines available, please let me know.

BTW I appreciate it's Christmas Eve - - - but you never know........

Thanx.

Calling Professor Faulkner..... Come in, please.

Hi Kev,

I've had this thread out since Christmas Eve, and I don't know if you missed it, but being the Elmo Guru, I just wonder if you have any thoughts on my request, eg. where to look apart from eBay, etc. for any of these three machines.

My first preference would of course be the TRV-R8, but it is extremely rare.

Any comments, thoughts or suggestions gratefully accepted.

Hi David,

Happy new year to you. I don't think I have ever seen many Elmo Std 8 Sound machines.

I saw a AP 8 once on eBay Germany and thats about all. It might be worth checking with people like Phil at Classic or Buckingham Films and of course keep your eyes open on eBay.
Maybe set up a search so that you get notified of new Elmo listings worldwide but remember that you need a multi voltage or 220V model.

Another good idea is to keep your eyes peeled at the various conventions as well as your local freebie paper. I have seen people selling 8mm gear in ours from time to time. Loot and Exchange & Mart are another good bet. Both of them have online listings.

If I see anything I will let you know.

Kev.

GS1200 Xenon with Elmo 1.0...great combo along with a 16-CL Xenon for that super bright white light.

Cheers, Kevin. Thanks for that.

Actually voltage isn't a problem for me. Our home is wired with 115 volts as well as 230. We have a 10kVA power transformer providing this voltage, as we have many, many American electrical appliances and tools.

Also, as far as my business is concerned, all of our test equipment has to be this voltage to comply with the Health & Safety Executive, so it made sense to have this voltage constantly available, not only on site, but at home also.

This should widen the horizon - hopefully. [Big Grin]
