Grateful thanks to Kev Clark for finding a suitable condenser lens for my Ampro Futurist 8, Standard 8 projector.
It came from a Bell & Howell Standard 8 machine, model 625H, and the lens, complete with its mount, fitted exactly into the aperture of the original lens mount assembly. Although the actual lens is a little larger in diameter than the original, its mount is somewhat smaller, and after juducious measurements with vernier calipers and micrometer, it turned out to be a perfect interference fit. I have clamped it in place with an 8BA nut and bolt. The area of illumination turns out to be marginally larger than the gate area, which is perfect.
The difference is stunning, with a really brilliant screen.
Now, - where did I put my sunglasses?
Thanks again, Kev.

Valves and celluloid - a great combination! Early technology rules OK!
