Hello , I have these lenses on Ebay with photos. Here is the link as I cannot work out how to upload pictures to the 8mm forum. I know nothing about these lenses, only that they are huge and appear OK. The price is very negotiable but factor in shipping out side of the UK.
Plus if any kind member can offer any info on them that would be very welcome.

I may have missed it from your photos but the lenses do not appear to have a focusing scale.

True, so I assume the two arrows are some form of focus alignment??????
Ive had another cinema lens and that did not have a focus scale.

Id be interested in any info on these wonderful lenses and what perhaps they are worth, or not????

Looking at the pictures, I don't think these are scope lenses. Looking through the lens does not show elliptical deformation typical for a scope lens.
To me the labels suggest that these lenses were used in the Todd-AO 70mm system.
And the writing on the lens suggests to me that, in a later life, these lenses were used as primary lenses for 35mm scope projection.
Just my opinion...

I agree with Alexander.

The deeply curved screens used for some 70mm projection produced distortion to the projected image. To counteract this distortion special lenses were produced to alleviate the problem.

I suspect that Mark's lenses are these special lenses which may have been later used in scope projection.

Since the introduction of digital projection and the scrapping of 35mm projectors many projectionists have "pocketed" the lenses and scope lenses. A plethora of some superb lenses are now available on eBay, often at inflated prices.

As I said before, most cinema scope lenses will not focus down far enough for use in the home.

As such, it is quite possiblethat Mark's lenses have no real value.

Hi, I agree with both of you, I do know what a scope lens should look like, I went on the fact scope is written on both lens cases. Those these potential are primary lenses that would then throw the image thru a scope attachment. Interesting. I believe they may have been off of DP projectors that would show 70mm.
A crime if they have no value as they are stunning.

I wonder if these were low compression lenses used to expand 2.20
:1 70mm to 2.70:1 as for Ben Hur and the 1 strip Cinerama presentations.

Have just removed the collar and sleeve and have found the following on the lens:
GAUMONT KALEE
COLOUR CORRECTED BLOOMED PROJECTION LENS
5 IN = 127MM F1.9

In the "old days" a 5 inch lens was the standard size for 35mm cinema projection, as is a 2 inch lens for 16mm.

Are these lenses worth selling, if so what might be a value? And can they be used for 16mm etc?
